The Fritz Fleischer KG Gera ( Gera body and vehicle factory Fritz Fleischer ) was the only private manufacturer of buses in the GDR , which in appreciable quantities coaches and buses manufactured. The owner of the company was until nationalization in 1972 Fritz Fleischer .

From the 1960s, the newly-built vehicles as were repairs conversions (RU) old buses declared, as these terms are defined within the CMEA buses only from Hungary could be obtained. The IKARUS body and vehicle plants ( Budapest , however) provided 700 buses per year, less than in the GDR were needed and approximately 1000 vehicles per year less than ordered.

Private hauliers and businesses was the purchase of new buses from the import impossible Fritz Fleischer offered often the only way to ever get to buses.

By the end of the 1960s, new developments of Fritz Fleischer could certainly be compared to products of western origin. Comfort, such as reclining seats, toilets, television, was already available.

The development work and production were often held under extremely difficult conditions. The company was cut off from the material butcher supply, butcher Fritz himself was imprisoned even for a few months. Its chief designer Seipolt fled in 1960 from the GDR to the FRG and henceforth worked at Kässbohrer .

Butcher’s buses were also in the public transport in Berlin (only butcher S3) and Gera used.

In addition to buses, the butcher Fritz KG manufactures also:

  • Special structures, such as x-ray trains for the USSR
  • Trailer
  • Service vehicles for racing teams in the GDR
  • Consumer goods, such as sophisticated garden furniture

1927 Gera body and vehicle factory Fritz Fleischer was established as a company for car body repair and construction of superstructures and trailers.

The development of buses with unibody construction began in 1958 with the types S1 and S2. A year later, the series production of buses S1 and S2 began.Towards the end of 1959 modules and units of the bus were H6B the VEB Motor Works “Ernst Grube” Werdau taken after the bus production was set there. To circumvent the provisions of the CMEA, all built buses and repair remodeling were (for example S2 RU declared).

For the (East) Berlin Transport Authority (BVG or BVB) of the bus type S3 was built from in 1962. This bus line was especially designed to peripheral areas of Berlin.1970 began with the S4, the production of the successor of the type S1 produced only until 1962. The S5 manufactured since 1972 was the last new development based on the S2 using produced in the GDR Ikarus chassis components. It was produced unchanged until 1990.

In the last great wave of nationalization , the company was expropriated in 1972. After turning in the GDR , the company was by the THA processed and sold. The production of meat buses was discontinued and the company closed.

Overall, the company produced between 500 and 1,000 vehicles here.

In Dutch, my homelanguage: Ik ben Jeroen, tot januari 2015 was ik al dik 26 jaar werkzaam in een psychiatrisch ziekenhuis in een stad vlakbij Werelds grootste havenstad Rotterdam. Eerst als verpleegkundige/begeleider op high care, later op afdeling dubbeldiagnose (verslavingen) en ook nog een tijdje als administratief medewerker. Ik heb een spierziekte "Poli Myositis" (alle spieren zijn ontstoken) daardoor weinig energie. Sinds augustus 2015 is daarbij de diagnose Kanker gesteld, en ben ik helemaal arbeidsongeschikt geworden en zit middenin de behandelfase. Gelukkig ben ik daarnaast getrouwd, vader, en opa, en heb de nodige hobby's. Een daarvan is transportmiddelen verzamelen en daarmee een blog schrijven. Dit blog begon met bussen, maar nu komen ook sleepboten, auto's trucks en dergelijke aan bod. Kijk en geniet met me mee, reageer, en vul gerust aan. Fouten zal ik ook graag verbeteren. In English: I'm Jeroen, till januari 2015 I was already 26 years working as a nurse in a psychiatric hospital, near Rotterdam, Worlds biggest harbour with more than 98 nationalities living within it's borders. First I worked on closed high care ward and the last years on a ward with mainly addicted people. I liked my work very much. In 2007 I got ill. I got the diagnose Poli Myositis, a musscle dissease. Al my mussles are inflamed. And last august I got another diagnose. Cancer. It's plaveicelcel carcinoma and treated with Chemo and radioation. So I've even less energy than the last years. Still I try to make something of my life and the blog is helping with surviving with some pleasure.
